Hello my lovelies
November has arrived, and that means cosy jumpers, crackling fires, and the smell of toasted marshmallows in the air. It also means Bonfire Night, one of my favourite evenings of the year. But before you grab your sparklers and head out to enjoy the fireworks, let’s talk about how to keep your hair happy, safe, and looking fabulous around all that heat, smoke, and chill.
The Heat Is On
Standing by the bonfire might feel lovely on a cool night, but your hair is not quite as thrilled about it. The dry heat can sap moisture, leaving your hair feeling rough or frazzled. If you are planning to stand close to the flames, make sure you protect your hair with a light mist of leave in conditioner or serum before you go. It acts like a shield against dryness and helps to lock in moisture.
Smoke and Sparkles
Bonfire smoke can cling to your hair and leave it smelling like a campfire the next day. A loose braid or bun will help to keep your hair from absorbing too much of that smoky scent. If your hair still smells a bit like burnt wood the next morning, try rinsing it with a little apple cider vinegar mixed with water before shampooing. It works wonders.
Beware of the Sparks
This might sound obvious, but it’s worth saying. Keep your hair tied back and away from open flames. A loose scarf or hat can add both style and safety while you watch the fireworks light up the Costa Del Sol sky.
Cool Weather Hair Love
As the evenings get cooler, hair tends to get drier. Now is the perfect time to start using richer conditioners and treatments. I always recommend a deep conditioning mask once a week to keep hair soft and manageable through the colder months.
My Bonfire Night Tip
If you want to look your best for the evening, book a mobile hair appointment in La Cala de Mijas before you go out. I can give your hair a smooth, glossy finish that will last through the night, no matter how smoky the bonfire gets.
So wrap up warm, enjoy the fireworks, and give your hair the care it deserves this season. And keep an eye out for my next post in this new series, where I will be talking about how to fight frizz and dryness as winter sets in on the Costa Del Sol.
Love, Katie x
