Winter Wind and Hair Woes

If you live anywhere along the Costa Del Sol, you’ll know that winter might be mild, but it still brings its fair share of windy days. I swear the breezes in La Cala de Mijas have a mind of their own. One minute your hair looks perfect, the next it’s doing its own interpretive dance in the wind. So let’s talk about how to keep your hair looking lovely even when the weather tries to take charge.

The Coastal Hair Struggle

There is something magical about living by the sea, but the salty air and gusty winds can leave your hair feeling dry, tangled, and frizzy. The trick is to stay one step ahead. A good quality leave in conditioner is your first line of defence. It helps seal the cuticle and keeps moisture locked in, so your hair doesn’t become a salty, windswept mess by lunchtime.

Tie It Before It Tries You

If you know you’re heading out on a windy day, style your hair before the wind does it for you. A low ponytail, soft braid, or messy bun can save you hours of detangling later. My personal favourite is a loose braid pulled to one side, which still looks chic even after a few gusts of seaside air.

Smooth It, Don’t Fight It

Instead of battling frizz with endless brushing, embrace smoothing products that work with your hair, not against it. A light serum or oil rubbed between your palms and gently worked through the ends will tame flyaways without weighing your hair down.
