Who extensions are for

Extensions are used here for three different reasons: length, volume, and blending. Some clients want noticeably longer hair; others have plenty of length but want thickness through the ends; and some are covering a stage of growing out shorter layers or an old colour.

They are not right for every head of hair. Very fine or fragile hair, an unsettled scalp, or hair mid-way through heavy lightening may need to wait or take a different method. That assessment happens at the consultation, before anything is ordered.

The methods offered

Nano rings are the smallest, most discreet bonding method available, attached in tiny sections with no heat, glue or braiding. They sit close to the scalp and suit finer hair well. Micro rings work on the same principle with a slightly larger ring, useful where more weight per strand is appropriate.

Invisible tape is fitted in thin wefts that lie flat against the head, which is quicker to apply and comfortable for adding volume. Clip-ins are a non-permanent option, colour-matched and cut to blend, for occasional length rather than everyday wear.

Hair is offered in two ranges: a premium Slavic range and a high quality Asian hair range. The difference is in the texture, longevity and how the hair behaves after repeated washing, and it is talked through openly along with the price of each.

Length, volume and colour matching

Volume matters more than length for a natural result. Not enough hair fitted at a long length gives thin, see-through ends; the right density makes the same length look like it grew there. Katie will tell you how many grams the look you have shown her actually needs.

Colour matching is done in person and in daylight. Where your own colour is multi-tonal, or where the extensions need to sit inside a balayage, the hair can be blended with colour so the join disappears. Booking extensions and a colour appointment together often gives the best result.

Why the consultation is not optional

Extensions are ordered specifically for you, so the consultation happens first: hair and scalp condition, the right method, weight, length, colour match and what your routine will realistically support.

You will also hear what it commits you to. Extensions need maintenance appointments, a slightly different brushing and washing routine, and eventual removal or refitting. Knowing that in advance is the difference between loving them and resenting them.

Aftercare on the coast

Salt water, chlorine and sun all shorten the life of extension hair, which no longer receives anything from the scalp. Tying hair up before swimming, rinsing immediately afterwards, using a lightweight conditioner through the ends and drying rather than sleeping on wet hair all make a real difference here.

Brush with an extension-safe brush, from the ends upwards, holding the bonds. Heat protection matters more than on your own hair, and oils are best kept to the ends.

Refits and removal

As your own hair grows, bonded extensions move away from the scalp and need moving back up. Refitting reuses your existing hair where its condition allows, which keeps the ongoing cost down; tape wefts are re-taped on a similar cycle.

Removal is done in the salon, never at home. Done properly it is straightforward, and your own hair is treated and assessed afterwards so you know where it stands before anything is refitted.
