A specialist blonde service, not a single shade
Balayage is a technique. Blonding is the wider service: getting you to a blonde that suits you, whatever route the hair needs to take, and then keeping it clean. That might mean a full head of lightener, a partial refresh, a root melt, a tone change, or a staged lift over more than one appointment.
It is the right page to start on if you know you want to be blonde but are not sure which technique gets you there. Katie will tell you at the consultation whether painted balayage, foils, or a combination is the honest answer for your hair.
Choosing the right blonde
Cool Scandinavian white, buttery beige, honey, and everything between all sit differently against skin tone and eye colour, and they age differently as they fade. A cool blonde needs more frequent toning; a warmer blonde is more forgiving in strong sunlight.
The depth you keep at the root matters as much as the brightness. Keeping some shadow makes blonde look expensive and stretches the time between appointments; taking it all out gives maximum brightness and a shorter maintenance cycle. That trade-off is a decision to make together, before any product is mixed.
Dimensional blonde versus solid blonde
Dimensional blonde keeps contrast between lighter and deeper pieces, which reads as natural movement and grows out gently. Solid blonde is uniform from root to end, which is striking but shows regrowth quickly and asks more of the hair.
Most clients here end up somewhere in between: bright through the face and ends, with enough depth behind to keep it wearable through a Costa del Sol summer.
Protecting condition through the lift
Blonde is only as good as the hair holding it. Katie works with high-integrity lighteners and bond-building products, and will limit how far a single appointment goes if the hair is telling her to stop. Overlapping lightener onto previously lightened ends is avoided wherever possible.
Hair that has had box colour, henna or repeated home lightening needs to be assessed in person. In some cases the plan starts with a treatment or a colour removal step rather than lightener.
Realistic expectations
A reference photograph is a direction, not a promise. Existing pigment, previous colour, hair thickness and condition all decide how far a first appointment can go, and a dark or previously coloured base will usually be a staged journey.
You will be told the number of appointments and roughly what each one achieves before you commit. That conversation is more useful than a result that costs the hair its integrity.
Maintenance between appointments
Toners and glosses do the heavy lifting: they correct warmth as it returns, add shine and make blonde look freshly done without more lightener. Many clients book a short toning visit between full appointments and nothing else.
At home, a colour-safe shampoo, a purple product used sparingly rather than constantly, heat protection and rinsing chlorine or salt out promptly will noticeably extend how long the tone stays clean.

- Which blonde will suit me?
- It depends on skin tone, eye colour, your natural depth and how much maintenance you want. Cooler blondes need toning more often; warmer blondes fade more gracefully in strong sunlight.
- Can I go blonde in one appointment?
- Sometimes. A dark, box-dyed or previously lightened base is usually a staged plan across more than one visit so condition is protected. Katie will tell you which applies at the consultation.
- How do I stop my blonde going brassy on the coast?
- Sun, salt and chlorine pull warmth back through lightened hair. A toner or gloss between full appointments, a colour-safe shampoo and rinsing pool or sea water out promptly make the biggest difference.
- Do you use bond-building products?
- Yes. Bond-building and protective products are used through the lightening process, and in-salon treatments can be added to a colour appointment where the hair needs the support.
