When foils are the better choice
Foil highlights give brightness right at the root and a more even lift than painted colour, which is exactly what some hair needs. Fine hair often looks fuller with woven highlights, and anyone wanting a consistently bright blonde rather than a soft grow-out is better served by foils than by balayage.
Babylights are the finest version of the same idea: very small sections for a soft, dense brightness that reads almost natural. Partial and face-framing work concentrates the effect where it shows most.
What to expect
Because the lift starts at the scalp, regrowth is more visible than with balayage, so foils are usually a shorter maintenance cycle. Many clients alternate: a full highlight appointment, then a tone refresh, then a partial rather than another full head.
